does anyone else notice the difference between lead shot and steel shot? It seems to me that i have had greater success with lead. any other options besides steel for the areas that require non-toxic shot?

Hey Big Papa,  wink

Lead shot is denser and heavier than steel, so it carries more of a punch when it hits something than steel does.  It's also toxic. Cry  Because of this, some areas have outlawed the use of lead bullet and/or shot.

There's several alternatives to lead and steel shot, tungsten & bismuth are 2 that come to mind, but the bad thing about them is that they're generally more expensive. Angry

Just do some shopping around, looking for "non-toxic" shot.  You should be able to find about anything that you would want then. Afro

Yeah on lead and other non steel loads being MUCH better! I knew before they came out with steel loads that steel loads would not be worth a crap.

When my one year younger brother Charlie and I removed the shot from some old shotgun shells and shot it in our BB guns, we noticed the difference between the steel BBs and the lead, right away. We suspected it would be better, and it proved so.

That was many years before steel shot shells were on the market.
